About Me

My photo
Hi :) my name is Donald Morgan and I am currently in my 3rd year at Texas Lutheran University. My major is Kinesiology and when I graduate I plan to be a high school football or basketball coach. As a future coach I am not just leaning about sports, but I am also learning about childhood obesity and how it is affecting our society into living a more sedentary lifestyle rather than being active. This is what has lead me to writing this childhood obesity blog. As a coach I love sports and love helping kids. This blog is to help parents as well as children understand that being healthy is the best way to live your life. Being healthy can lead to a LONG Life. Don't cut it short because we are unhealthy.

1st Lady Involved its SERIOUS

You know childhood obesity is a major problem when the first lady of the United States sees it as a major problem that is hurting the future of our economy. If the first lady feels the need to get involved I think we all should get involved and contribute to stopping our “little ones from becoming “OBESE.” Michele Obama has start many programs one for example is the Lets move Program which is all about helping kids eat healthy and stay active. Michele Obama is not the only one taking childhood obesity serious but there are also others as well. The first lady even has her own blog called “http://www.letsmove.gov/blog/2011/10/12/jumping-jacks-around-world.” YOU SHOULD CHECK IT OUT SOMETIME!!! In this blog Michele Obama is seen doing jumping jacks with a group of kids and encouraging kids all around the world to exercise.
In the article "N.F.L. Players Set an Active Example in Effort to Fight Childhood Obesity.” by Judy Battissta shows how NFL players are encouraging children to  be active for at least 6o minutes a day on order to decrease childhood obesity. On the NFL annual support day “Across the country, players rebuilt parks, conducted football clinics and, unintentionally or not, used their physical appearance to send a message: ignore the girth, even the biggest guys can move.”

The NFL message is perfect for children who are obese. As we all know NFL players are really huge but they still work out and still are in good shape which keeps their body healthy. This lets obese kids know that just because you’re big doesn't mean you can’t work out and get your body healthy and lose weight because you can. If people as big as NFL lineman can move and exercise I think anyone can and that’s what’s so encouraging.
The reason these people are doing this is because obesity can cause
·         Heart Disease
·         High blood pressure
·         Diabetes
·         Asthma
·         Sleeping Disorder
This is only a few of the major problems. Come on people our kids are to wonderful and precious to be suffering with these diseases we must stop childhood obesity.
If Michelle Obama as busy as she is being the wife of the President and always having to support and help her husband can find the time to launch an obesity program then everyone can. I don’t care if you’re just helping your kids at least your doing something. If everyone does something no matter how small or big it is we are moving in the RIGHT direction.
The NFL players are also very busy; its football year round for them and when they do get a break I’m sure they want to spend it with their families. Even with all this they still find time to help build parks and encourage kids to lose weight and stay active.
My point is that if the FIRST LADY OF THE UNITED STATES and NFL PLAYERS can find time to help the world fight childhood obesity then WE CAN TO.  Whether it’s donating money to parks or children’s clubs, taking your kids to exercise daily, feeding your kids healthy food, whatever it may be just make sure your doing something. Remember it’s all for OUR KIDS & OUR KIDS ARE THE FUTURE!!!
